¿En qué trabajas?

by Brian Inkster 10. October 2009 22:17

Soy abogado.

Nicola es arquitecta.

Today at Centro Español Lorca Natalia gave us dialogues that will come in useful when we first introduce ourselves in Argentina.

We can now say what we do for a living, where we work and live.

Yo trabajo en un estudio de abogados.

Nicola trabaja un estudio de arquitectos.

Nosotros vivimos en Glasgow, Escocia.

Nosotros trabajamos en un proyecto de construcción para una empressa de caridad.

We also looked at the map of the Buenos Aires subway and now know how to ask for tickets to travel on it: dos tickets para subte.

Thanks David.

I can understand the first half of the Spanish bit. Not sure about the second half. May need to get our teacher, Natalia, to translate at next week's class!

It was badly written sentiment, along the lines of 'but still you knew that'. The iPod has no provision for accents which is a shame Smile

Incidentally, Brian my Spanish came primarily from the Michel Thomas series.
Excellent for getting a grasp of the grammer building-blocks.

Never as good as one-to-one but a great help all the same.

Ah... thanks for the translation. Saves me waiting until next Saturday's class.

Yes, of course, I did know that - now that it has been translated!

Thanks also for the pointer re. the Michel Thomas series.

We are very much on a crash course before we go to Argentina. Should perhaps have started earlier. Nicola has, however, done classes in the past and so has more of a grasp on it than I do.

Hola amigos!

Muy bien!! Looks like you have been doing some homework!
This is a good start working for Lorca...It's funny that all these phrases will soon be sounding in Argentina! I am thinking of some more phrases for next week...

I think you will be interested, there is an open group in Glasgow that meets regularly for a drink and a chat in Spanish, this is the link from the meetup website...I believe they are meeting tomorrow if you want to practise!

Hasta pronto!
